How It Works
Addison Housing Works offers down-payment grants to homebuyers through the Homeland Program and, sometimes, the Vermont Affordable Housing Tax Credit. Purchasers making up to 120% of Area Median Income (AMI) can receive up to $80,000 (or 25%, whichever is less) of the purchase price of a home in return for sharing appreciation with future buyers through a housing subsidy covenant or ground lease signed with AHW. In addition to down-payment grants, AHW also facilitates resales of affordable homes currently in the program. The median resale net purchase price is around $150,000.
Currently AHW is looking to add homes in the following towns to its portfolio: Vergennes, Bristol, Middlebury, New Haven, Waltham, Addison, Monkton and Ferrisburgh. Homes in other towns will be considered for the program on a case by case basis.
