AHW Awarded funds for MHC Infrastructure improvements in starksboro

At its Board Meeting on October 2, the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board (VHCB) awarded AHW $50,000 in Project Capacity Grant funds for final design and permitting work pertaining to our three Starksboro parks’ redevelopment project. This award will supplement $225,000 previously awarded through the ANR Healthy Homes program for design development of water, stormwater, and wastewater solutions for the 128 homes at Lazy Brook, Brookside, and Hillside.

Last year, ANR Health Homes funded feasibility and preliminary engineering for the project, contracting directly with Dubois and King for Preliminary Engineering Reports (PERs). AHW issued an RFP for engineering services for design development of the preferred alternatives identified in the PERs and selected Otter Creek engineering to continue this work.

The pump house at Hillside Manor MHC in Starksboro stands out against the fall foliage. It is slated for minor improvements as part of AHW's Starksboro MHC redevelopment plan.

If AHW is able to procure construction funding for the designs produced by this phase of engineering, the improvements to the park may be completed as soon as 2028. We have currently been selected for an earmark by Senator Sanders for up to $1.2 million of a projected $9MM in construction costs.
